SATURDAY
A warm welcome awaits you from your host for the weekend. After some introductions and overview of the what lies ahead we get straight into our first activity for the day Wild Swimming in Cornwall.
The tidal movement along with the sea & weather conditions for the day will decide where our first wild swim will take place. Newquay has the good fortune of several lovely sheltered areas for us to choose from so whatever the weather you’ll enjoy a great introduction to wild swimming in Cornwall.
After a short break for hot drinks, it’s back into the ocean but this time for an introduction into surfing. You’ll learn beach & surf safety, how to catch waves on your stomach and of course how to pop up and surf a wave back to the beach. But at the end of the day, it’s just a bit of fun and yet another fantastic way to enjoy the Cornish coastline.
By now it’s lunchtime and with lots of great cafe’s, pop up vendors & eateries to choose from your spoilt for choice as you wander the shops and admire the stunning coastal views surrounding Newquay.
SATURDAY AFTERNOON & EVENING
After lunch, it’s time to gather your BBQ essentials, snacks and any drinks (Sainsbury’s across the road) before we head off to the wild campsite and our first yoga session.
Our wild campsite is a 15-minute drive from Newquay based on a working dairy farm. Wild by design, our wild camp is perfectly set up for a fun and comfortable night in a Cornish woodland.
You’ll have time to settle into your shared bell tent before getting changed and ready for yoga in our open-sided yoga barn. You just need warm clothes suited to doing yoga outside.
With yoga finished your free to explore the woodland, chill out with a hot drink, play some games or get cooking on the BBQ. Your host will be there to help with lighting the fire or simply hang out and enjoy being in a peaceful woodland.
We provide everything you need for you to cook or bbq your food. From cups, plates, to the kitchen sink we have it all – just bring what you would like to eat and drink.
As it starts to get dark we light the camps with fairy lights, tea lights and of course a campfire. Crack open your favourite drink or put the kettle on either goes down well around a cosy open fire.
SUNDAY
Wild camp mornings begin with a basic camp breakfast of cereals, fruit and tea / coffee to get your day started. If you’re wanting a more substantial breakfast or have dietary requirements please ensure you have all you need before arriving at the camp.
Your morning yoga session is designed to slowly energise and invigorate the mind and body before saying fond farewell to the wild camp and making your way back to Newquay for our final wild swim in Cornwall.
The focus for Sunday mornings Wild swimming in Cornwall is to build on the previous days introduction. With a new location the aim is cover a small distance and put into practise some of the techniques taught the day before.
WHY IS WILD SWIMMING IN CORNWALL SO POPULAR?
Wild swimming seems to have taken over in recent months – this great new wave of intrepid wild swimmers across the UK have been swimming in anything and everything from local mellow rivers, quarry sites to beaches and harbours.
Of course, wild swimming in Cornwall has boomed as it has all over the UK – and with Cornwall’s sheltered beaches on the south coast, tidal pools and harbours on the north coast there’s no better place to venture out and take a dip.
