FRIDAY EVENING
Arrival Day
We kick our weekends off by meeting at our HQ in the centre of Newquay at 6pm for a warm welcome from your hosts for the weekend. After the hellos and introductions are done with the rest of your group, and the weekend plan has been set, you’ll head up to our wild camp for your first evening of woodland shenanigans! If you are planning to get to us by public transport, we can help you lift share with another adventurer!
Your hosts will give you the camp tour and you then have the evening to settle in and become accustomed to Wild Camp Living! After a quick introduction to the camp, you’ll want to settle into your shared Bell tent (air bed provided) before the evening activities begin. Complete with a hand built games area, Axe throwing zone and sheltered communicable Fire Pit, you’ll spend your time getting to know everyone, and designating the camp chef for the following evening!
Your hosts are with you all weekend so if you have any questions about the weekend make sure you check in with them for any assistance, whether it’s logistics or something more technical about your activities they are sure to be able to help you out.
The weekends weather, tide and surf conditions will decide which activities we schedule for the morning or afternoon, so come prepared for either surfing or coasteering. The below description should give you a good idea of how a typical itinerary plays out. Once we’ve all meet each other, it’s time to grab a wetsuit and surfboard for the first of the weekend’s surf lessons. Whether you are experienced or it’s your first time, our surf coaches are on hand to offer advice and guide you throughout your surfing lesson.
95% of people who join us are brand new to surfing, so don’t worry if you think you’ll be the only person who hasn’t tried surfing – – you’ll be in good company!
LUNCH
You’ll have plenty of time between activities to grab some lunch, take a stroll around Newquay’s many surf shops or head back to our base and hang out in the garden. Newquay has a great vibe during the summer with plenty to look at, just ask us for some recommendations on where to go and what to see.
SATURDAY AFTERNOON
After lunch it’s time for the afternoon’s activity, coasteering. Once your group is kitted out you’ll take a short walk over to our coasteering location, commonly known as the ‘Gazzle’.
Don’t worry if you aren’t confident in the sea or have never tried coasteering before, your knowledgable guide will explain and demonstrate all the skills you need to have a fantastic time Coasteering.
SATURDAY NIGHT
Once the day’s water activities are finished you’ll have time to grab your belongings for the evening and visit the supermarket across the road from our base before we leave in convoy to our wild campsite.
We recommend some bbq food and one or two of your favourite drinks, we’ll provide the rest. For those without transport, we’ll help you arrange a lift share with other members of the group.
The wild camp is a lovingly crafted space in our own private woodlands set on a working dairy farm in the heart of Cornwall. After a quick introduction to the camp, you’ll want to settle into your shared Bell tent (air bed & pillow provided) before the evening activities begin. With axe throwing, balance games and firefighting skills there’s plenty going on throughout the evening to keep you entertained. Finish the night off with stories around the campfire, roasting marshmallows or one or two of your favorite drinks before sleeping soundly under the stars.
SUNDAY
Sunday morning starts with tea & coffee, simple cereals and fruit. If you have personal dietary requirements or feel you’d need something more substantial please ensure you bring this with you.
After breakfast it’s time to wave goodbye to the wild camp and head back to Newquay, jump into a wetsuit and hit the Cornish waves one last time.
Your second surf lesson builds on the previous days experience – Today is all about having fun in the surf! After a general overview of surf conditions, recapping the fundamentals it’s straight into the ocean to get the most of your time in the sea – your coaches will as always on hand giving personal feedback and goals to aim for in your surfing. By 1pm we are typically all surfed out, with your appetite for adventure satisfied it’s time to say fond farewells…
Your weekend consists of two surf lessons, a coasteering session and an overnight camp at our private wild campsite. Saturday is the big day with two water activities & wild camping. Each of the water activities are two hours long and includes all the kit, you’ll need a few personal items for each activity and the weekend, so make sure you see our packing list before you arrive.
