7 Things That Won’t Happen When Coasteering in Cornwall
Coasteering is an action-packed, fun way to explore the beautiful Cornish coastline. Whilst we can promise plenty of adrenaline and stunning views, coasteering is a new activity for many and there are a lot of questions about what to expect. Here are 7 things that won’t happen when you go on a coasteering trip with us in Cornwall.
But First, What Exactly Is Coasteering?
Coasteering is a fun mix of exploration, adventure and adrenaline and the perfect way to see parts of the coastline you’d otherwise miss out on. You can expect to traverse along cliff edges, plunge into deep waters, try your hand at short wild swimming sections and learn all about the beauty Cornwall has to offer.
At Cornish Wave, we offer group, family and private coasteering sessions along the wild Cornish coast near Newquay. There’ll be big jumps, whirlpools, adventure swims and plenty of fun! There’s also lots of wildlife to enjoy as you explore rocks, smugglers caves and gullies. So, that’s what will happen on a coasteering trip, but what won’t?
You’ll Need to Worry About Rocks Below
Something we get asked a lot is whether you’ll need to clear rocks below you when you jump. The simple answer is no! Everything about the route we take coasteering is thoroughly checked out in advance. That means there are no rocks below to avoid. Your instructor will even jump first to show you how it’s done. You will never be asked to jump over any rocks to reach the water!
You’ll Need to Bring Equipment
As well as warm wetsuits, we’ll provide you with all the equipment you need for a fun coasteering trip. We’ll give you neoprene coasteer shorts, a buoyancy aid and a helmet. Your guide will also bring extra safety equipment. The only thing you need to find is some old trainers with good grip.
You’ll Be Part of a Big Group
At Cornish Wave, our coasteering groups are always small (1:8 ratio) so that you get the most out of the adventure. It’s more fun in a smaller group and everyone feels safer if the Coasteer guide can give them more of their attention. There’s also much less time waiting around for your turn to jump or swim!
You’ll Be Cold
Whilst the weather in Cornwall can be warm in summer it can get pretty chilly along the Cornish coast – especially when you’re jumping in and out of the Atlantic. We’ll provide you with warm 4/3 wetsuits that are suitable for colder temperatures. This allows you to concentrate on having fun rather than the cold!
You’ll Forget The Experience
Would you forget traversing along rocks with the Atlantic sea swirling below you, spotting seals or jumping into crystal clear waters? If you’re looking for a bit of adrenalin and something different to do on your holiday in Cornwall then you should definitely give coasteering a go. The perfect combination of nature and excitement – you really won't forget it!
